Google Summer of Code pumping $3.15 Million Dollars in the Open Source Community

Google summer of Code is one of the events that the company started last year with 410 projects accepted, and continued this year with 630 projects ! The investment increased from $2.05 million dollars last year to $3.15 million dollars this year, so with an additional $1.1 million dollars which could reflect that Google have monitored with the last year's event.

This year there is over 102 mentoring organizations, including Google itself compared to last year where there were only 41 mentoring organizations. The system didn't change, there is $5,000 overall per project, $500 goes to the mentoring organization and $4,500 goes to the student. An important event which involve students, open source software and Google.
